Mid Florida Director of Recruitment
Hi! Welcome to the best volunteer staff on the planet! I’m Sierra Mision, a journalism senior at the University of Florida, and I’m a 2007 Mid-Florida HOBY alumna. I’m thrilled to be a part of the 2013 staff and honored to work with you. I’m this year’s director of recruitment – my second year with this role and third year with recruitment.
My role involves reaching out to schools to register ambassadors for the 2013 seminar (and handling all the paperwork that naturally comes with that), as well as maintaining ambassador relations before, during and after the seminar.
I’ve been a part of Mid-Florida every year since my ambassador year of 2007, returning to assist as a junior facilitator, work in operations, develop the seminar’s program and serve as the assistant director of recruitment. I also handle recruitment at the National Capital Area (D.C.) seminar and have been a facilitator at both North and South Florida. In addition, I’ve worked at the World Leadership Congress as the publications coordinator.
In my free time, I enjoy reading (suggestion: “Me Talk Pretty One Day” will leave you gasping for breath), editing stories and multimedia clips (everyone has a quirk…), and attending Gator football games. I’ve got a (slightly farfetched) goal to travel to every county in the U.S. and write a story about someone who lives there.
