Eric is a 2009 North Florida HOBY and HOBY World Leadership Congress alumnus from Blountstown, FL. He returned to North FL HOBY in 2011 as a volunteer. Since then, he has served in a multitude of positions: Team Alumni, Junior Facilitator, Director of Merchandising and Director of Gifts-in-King. Eric currently serves as Director of Recruitment leading up to seminar, and during seminar, he serves as a group facilitator.
Much of Eric’s experience with HOBY has been a strong influence over the eight years he has been a part of this organization. He attended Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL, where his passion for leadership led him to be heavily involved with the Center for Leadership and Social Change during his undergraduate career. Eric graduated from FSU in Fall 2014 with a double major in Political Science and International Affairs with a Certificate in Leadership Studies. He also had the great opportunity to further his growth and skills around leadership by becoming an AmeriCorps VISTA with PeaceJam Southeast, which is housed in the Center for Leadership and Social Change at FSU. He supervises the PeaceJam Coaching program where he recruits FSU students to serve as mentors to groups of youth in various Leon County Schools and programs. Because of HOBY, leadership development has become an essential piece of Eric’s everyday life. In his free time, Eric enjoys sleeping, reading, and watching plenty of Netflix. He also spends much of his time with family and friends. When Eric tries to explain why HOBY is such a great opportunity for students, he says, “I would not be where I am today, doing the work that I love, if I had not participated in HOBY. It all started with HOBY.”
